SASNES Congress UNISA September 9-13 2024

SASNES and OTSSA Joint Annual Conference 2024
Migration, War, Trauma and Sacred Texts
Hosted by the Department of Biblical and Ancient Studies, School of Humanities, School of Human Sciences
10-13 SEPTEMBER 2024
The organisations OTSSA (The Old Testament Society of South Africa), and SASNES (Southern African Society

for Near Eastern Studies) invite submissions for the annual meetings 2024. We invite submissions on issues

related to migration, war, and trauma and should explore these issues while considering the Sacred Texts and

Ancient Near Eastern texts and cultures, along with their relevance to our contemporary contexts. However,

submissions need not be limited to these topics.

We encourage submissions that explore these topics from a wide range of perspectives and interdisciplinary

approaches, including but not limited to historical, literary, gender, feminist, postcolonial, decolonial, etc. As

already noted, we will also accommodate abstracts, even if they do not necessarily relate to the highlighted

topics.

Please submit your 250-word abstract by the deadline of 30 April 2024. We look forward to receiving your

submissions and engaging in fruitful discussions at the 2024 annual meetings.

Format of proposals:
1. Name, Surname, and Institution

2. Title of Proposed Paper

3. Abstract (no longer than 250 words)
